iBackup Icon Volumes
Issue or symptom

The backups aren't written to the specified volume, instead they are written to the startup disk. This is a known issue by Apple

What does iBackup to inform the user?

iBackup alerts the user if it has found more than one Volume with the same name.

How can you check for not correct mounted volumes?
1. Quit iBackup
2. Disconnect all external disks and/or servers
3. In the Finder select the Go menu and choose Go To Folder...
4. Enter /Volumes and click Go
5. If any folders are in there, they probably shouldn’t be. Only aliases pointing to mounted drives should be there
6. If you find any folders (like here the folder private) copy it to your Desktop and delete the one in the folder Volumes

Volumes

7. If there are no folders and this error still occurs, you may need to make sure the volume and drive names match. Sometimes, especially when these folders show up, the alias can be renamed, perhaps with a _1 appended to the name. This will cause the error. Remove the appended _1 suffix or other extraneous characters!
(open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app, select the drive, click Unmount, then click "Mount" and it will come back with the proper name)
8. Connect the external disks and/or servers and start iBackup
9. Run a backup to make sure the alert does not show up again
10. It's up to you to keep or delete the folder on your Desktop
